Communicable Disease Training for
Substance Use Disorder Professionals

Lakeshore Coordinating Council is required to assure that staff knowledge and skills in the provider network are adequate and appropriate for adressing communicable disease related issues in the client population, as appropriate to each position, within every funded provider agency. 

  • Level 1: Communicable Disease is available as an on-line training
    All non-clinician and clinician staff that come into contact with clients at a licensed treatment provider is required to have basic knowledge of HIV/AIDS, TB, Hepatitis, STD and the relationship to substance abuse.   This training can be met through what is referred to as "Level 1" training.  This training is available on-line and free of charge through the Michigan Institute for Prevention and Treatment Education at http://www.mi-pte.org/detail.php?tid=71.
     
  • Level 2: Communicable Disease
    Clinicians providing substance abuse disorder services are no longer required to have an expanded level of training on HIV/AIDS, TB, Hepatitis and STD/Is.
